Special Session 4 Quietly Made History & Sine Die V
As quiet as the halls of the Capitol, the fourth special session of 2020 quietly made history. The fourth special session was much like the past three special sessions. The House voted to uphold Gov. Tim Walz’s emergency powers and the Senate voted to revoke the Gov’s emergency powers. The Senate did vote to withhold the appointment of Commerce Commissioner Steve Kelley, the second of Gov. Walz’s commissioner appointments of his cabinet. House Speaker Melissa Hortman suggested a fifth special session could be on the horizon as soon as Sept 21, if an agreement can be reached on a capitol investment package.
