April 17 - HOUSE DFL TAX BILL and SENATE GOP MINORITY RESPONSE
House Taxes Chair Aisha Gomes announces the House Tax Bill during a news conference along with Speaker Melissa Hortman and Property Tax Chair Dave Lislegard. The House $3 billion plan is designed to maximize benefits for workers, families, and seniors. The proposed House Tax Bill includes rebate checks, credits, Social Security tax cuts and a new fifth-tier high income and corporate tax bracket.
Sen. Carla Nelson along with Sen. Steve Drazkowski, Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson and Sen. Bill Weber declare during a news conference that the House Tax Bill will raise taxes by $9.69 billion in their budget
A final tax bill will be negotiated by Gov. Walz and DFL leaders in the House and Senate.
