May 25 - George Floyd Square - Gallery - One Year Later


Gov. Tim Walz asked Minnesotans for a moment of silence for 9 minutes and 29 seconds to honor George Floyd on the one year anniversary of his death May 25, 2021. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was murdered by former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin when Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. People at George Floyd Square took a knee at 1PM one year later for a moment of silence and after the 9 minutes and 29 seconds they got to their feet and shouted “George Floyd”. Charles McMillian, who testified at the trial of Derek Chauvin, was there for the moment of silence along with all types of people that came to George Floyd Square to commemorate the day in honor of George Floyd.
